About Me
I am a trained award-winning freelance writer and script supervisor with a First-Class degree in English and Creative Writing from Warwick University. I specialise in writing commissions for stage and screen.
Reviews:
“A rush of fun, love, and life lessons that promises to be both amusing and uplifting” CANAL STREET MEDIA
“Excellent. A warm and lighthearted play” ⭐⭐⭐⭐ EVERYTHING THEATRE
“Izzy Searle’s writing is warm, witty, and playful” ⭐⭐⭐⭐ UPSTAGED MANCHESTER
Theatre:
Partnered with Against Breast Cancer, my play Baggy Bra had its sold-out debut at London’s Bridge House Theatre. We performed at Birmingham’s Old Rep for Hysteria Festival, then Squad House in Stockport for the Greater Manchester Fringe, where we were awarded ‘Best Comedy Play’ (out of 200 fringe acts). We were invited back for GMFringe’s ‘Best of Fringe’ season at The Kings Arms, Salford. Baggy Bra will return in 2025.
My short plays have been performed by The Writing Shed (selected for both “Cereal for Dinner” in 2023 and “Dr Flo” in 2025 at CAST), Reload Theatre at 53 Two, Rising Phoenix at the Brighton Fishing Museum, The Hive Collective at Manchester School of Theatre (sold-out), and Scratch Meet at The Rose Hill (sold-out). In 2022, I was selected for Pentabus Young Writers Programme, culminating in performances at The Courtyard, Hereford.
Publications:
My poetry has been published by Lucent Dreaming, Streetcake Magazine, Substantially Unlimited, Re-Side, Discretionary Love, Olney Magazine, and Blue Marble Review. Platform B radio featured two of my poems in their ‘House of Verse’ show.
Screenwriting:
I have written several screenwriting commissions and hold a TV script editing credit (under NDA). I wrote and produced a Barb’s Bras sketch series with Siân Parry Williams. The Comedy Crowd selected our debut sketch as a Chorts 2023 finalist, reaching the top 18 out of 500 submissions.
I trained in Advanced Screenwriting at university and gained a First. During my placement with Feral Productions, I wrote, directed, and filmed nine short films in Sussex. I am currently working on a number of short film and TV scripts, samples available upon request.
Script Supervision:
I am a freelance digital script supervisor, trained at Pinewood Studios by ScreenSkills, GBCT, and BFI. I use Skarratt and Scriptation on my iPad and I have a driving licence (25+) and car. I enjoy script supervising TV, features, and shorts. Recent experience includes script supervising Channel Four and ScreenDog’s ‘The Jury Series Two’ after assisting on the award-winning first series.
Personal:
I am trained in a variety of genres but am particularly drawn to writing work that is warm, witty, and meaningful, often with a grain of truth to it. When I’m not writing or on set, I like to hike and volunteer for my local Scout Troop, providing opportunities for young people to go on adventures.
